When a friend, relative or child is transferred outside the area due to an illness or injury, it can be scary and confusing. Here is the basic information you need to know when your loved one is transferred to a different hospital.
Erlanger Health System
Erlanger Health System is a nonprofit, academic teaching center affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Erlanger is also a Level One Trauma Center for adults and the only provider of tertiary care services for the citizens of an entire four-state region, encompassing southeast Tennessee, north Georgia, north Alabama and western North Carolina.
Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt
The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt treats the region's sickest patients. The hospital offers Centers of Excellence for the treatment of diabetes and congenital heart disorders, as well as services for cancer treatments and developmental disorders. The hospital provides the highest level of neonatal intensive care in the state while providing family-centered care every step of the way. The hospital treats all children regardless of ability to pay.
Vanderbilt Burn Center
Vanderbilt Burn Center is a 25-bed Level I burn center dedicated to meeting the challenges of burn treatment and recovery. The center serves as a regional referral center for both adult and pediatric patients.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Vanderbilt University Hospital is home to the region's only Level I Trauma Center as well as the region's only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Wake Forest Baptist Health
Wake Forest Baptist Health is a Level 1 trauma center that serves the entire Piedmont region of North Carolina. The medical center is also home to AirCare, the critical care transport service that operates both ground ambulances and a helicopter at the critical care level.
