Cardiology 

Johnston Memorial Hospital is part of the Mountain States network including some of America’s best heart hospitals. When you need advanced cardiology care, the last thing you want to do is travel far from home. With the only 24-hour Interventional Cardiology program in Southwest Virginia, we are a full service referral center for advanced heart disease, Johnston Memorial Hospital’s interventional cardiology program offers highly trained cardiologists and staff and a lab fully equipped to diagnose and treat patients for urgent heart problems 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. 

Vascular Surgery

Vascular surgery provides treatment for vascular and venous conditions, such as aneurysms and carotid artery blockages, and peripheral vascular and venous diseases.

  • Diabetic foot ulcers and infections
  • Dialysis and vascular access procedures

Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology uses image-guided, minimally invasive treatments to treat a wide range of diseases and conditions. Interventional radiologists employ many forms of advanced imaging technology (including ultrasound, X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans) to examine inside the body and treat complex conditions. Interventional Radiology is effective in treating many conditions of the vascular system, including:

  • Blood clots
  • Kidney failure
  • Peripheral vascular disease

Diabetes and Endocrinology

Living with diabetes can be a challenge. The dedicated, compassionate team at Johnston Memorial Hospital’s Diabetes and Endocrinology Center understands that it’s important for anyone with diabetes to have continuing support available. That’s why the center offers a wide range of ongoing services that can help patients stay informed and in control of their diabetes, including medical management of diabetes and other endocrine problems, provided by a board-certified endocrinologist and two nurse practitioners who specialize in diabetes.

Wound Care

Slow to heal wounds as a result of vascular or heart disease can be significant health concern. Johnston Memorial Hospital’s provides a comprehensive wound care program and is one of a few facilities in the region that offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy — the delivery of oxygen at levels higher than atmospheric pressure in a chamber setting that stimulates the healing process.
